Today I have participated in an event that probably is not commonly known outside Argentina however here takes place every Thursday at 15.30 in Plaza de Mayo. These women in characteristic white scarves on heads are Mothers of the Plaza de Mayo, an association of mothers whose children disappeared during so called "Dirty War" (1976-83) in times of Argentine military dictatorship.Since then up to now they constantly have been fighting for human rights and reacting to the situation in the country being even nominated to Nobel Peace Prize.
A white scarf - pañuelo blanco - for Argentinians is a symbol of both fight and hope regarding the history and the future of their country.
