Castro - Isla de Chiloe

Houses on the water - "palafitos" - typical architecture of Castro, the capital of Chiloe Island in southern Chile.

Arica - a Chilean northermost city

My last stop in the north - Arica - a  city on the Pacific coast, only 18km south of the border from Peru.
Morro de Arica, the last bastion of Peruvians defeated by Chileans during the War of the Pacific

Shores of Arica are covered with precious gauno.

Around Putre

A rare animal la viscacha

Passing through the Chilean altiplano everything you see is breathtaking literally meaning. You are at an altitude of 4500m experiencing two feelings: physical lack of oxygen and spiritual elation that grows in you while being surrounded by the nature.
More possible to see - la vicuña - a relative of lamas, alpacas y guanacos.

A flourishing cactus.

A nosy lama.

Parinacota - a really small village (around 30 people) located in Lauca National Park at 4395m above sea level. Photos taken just before the snow storm.
